Right now the color menu in the Shapes tab reacts to environmental lights by being shaded as an object or marker color would. This can make it difficult to see which color you're choosing in many situations--for example, when the Palette is incidentally angled in such a way that the light on it is dim.
However, it's also a useful feature when the creator wants to see exactly how the light will interact with a color they choose.
There should be a toggle on/off option to enable/disable shading on the color patches in the menu, so that creators could see the unshaded color or the shaded color depending on their need.
Alternatively, shading on the color menu could just be permanently disabled, and testing colors could simply happen with a test application.
