Imagine making a sphere to go on top of your cylinder to make the perfect head shape, but it's too short or too wide and just doesn't work. a dome would have the option of being filled and it would appear as a half sphere or hollow on the inside. Maybe you want to make a bowl but at the moment it's near impossible. Life would be much easier with domes.
