"Listen" feature
Corporal_Joker
Please add a feature that lets a player point their hand in the direction of a person to whom they want to listen more closely. This should apply some audio effects to very slightly lower the voices of people outside the direction being pointed.
Ideally this would be an option in the expresso menu so that it was not always on, but easy to access. Alternatively, it could be a more automatic system, where pointing your head in the direction of the person for a short threshold period (~3s) automatically applied the audio effect.

Voice "Roll-On" option
Corporal_Joker
I suggest an optional feature that would reduce the volume of more distant players when the player comes in closer proximity to other players--maybe 2-3 meters. This would leverage the intuitive response of people to get closer to a person you're listening to in order to hear them better against the background of a noisy room.
However, please be careful that this feature wouldn't defeat the purpose of other custom Role effects put into rooms by creators--for example, muting certain players for the sake of a specific gameplay role.

Isn't this also an invasion of privacy?

It's common to have a social setting where many friendly people are gathered closer together to facilitate a fluid conversation, e.g. around a table, where neither the voice rolloff distance nor the "voices I can hear" options apply well.
In real life, people have the ability to "tune their ears" to, e.g., listen to someone across a table as part of a side-conversation which has digressed from a larger conversation at the table. Rec Room does not make this easy--it's very difficult to listen to one person for a moment when others are talking.

this would also help keep voice more isolated for pvp. I'm on Quest, so I hate when I find out my mic is buzzing. people know I'm coming. or even whispering to nearby teammates can currently be heard from too far away
