Much agreed, I don't know why it was added as a vote kick option in the first place.

Could there be a watch announcement message?
Like what was done with the recent maintenance and some store updates?
bigjesus
Yeah that's what I had in mind
GhosttheNote
Ok so I’ve finally grown out of whining about teleporters but imo the distance they can teleport should be shortened a little bit so they can’t outrun walkers/raise the base speed of walkers to match teleporters :”)
bigjesus
they cant anyway...
Chawa559
@GhosttheNote: if anything walkers should be nerfed to have jump delay
Partydonut214 <PSVR>
@Chawa559: jump delay? how would that work?
Chawa559
@Partydonut214 <PSVR>: same way tp delay works. Stops you from bunny hopping because of how insanely busted it is
GhosttheNote
@bigjesus: wdymmmmmmmm ever played golden trophy my guy?
GhosttheNote
@Chawa559: shorten the distance of the teleport but decrease the delay perhaps?
GhosttheNote
@Chawa559: Actually bunny hopping is just a “git gud” sorta thing. It’s op af against walkers aswell just the other walker can do it too, that’s the only difference. Honestly just because of the fundamentals that make up teleporting it’s just going to be worse than walking unless walking gets a massive nerf (which will 100% make 98% of that community pissed as all hell)
GhosttheNote
Imo, teleporters should be completely separated (meaning impossible to see eachother) from walkers in any server with competition, because that way no one could whine about the other (I already know the many flaws in that suggestion no need to point them out). But actually though something more than an announcement needs to be done, be it pissing off most of the player base to appease the 10(?)% or complete segregation, or something more intelligent I can’t think of. An announcement isn’t gonna calm anyone’s nerves when they get shitted on because they couldn’t see where their opponent was going or when they can’t do anything in a quest because the teleporter is o b j e c t i v e l y faster than them, etc. Unless they straight up remove teleporting there’s not much that can be done to appease the masses. anyways i probably complained about like 20 strawmen or went on a completely unrelated tangent that i can’t see so sry if im confusing or frustrating :”)
bigjesus
separating wouldnt work. I have friends with motion sickness and i like being able to actually play with them.
bigjesus
you're saying it cant be fixed by changing the locomotions, which i agree with. If you buff teleport walkers get mad and if you nerf walk, the walkers get even madder. Which is why i made this canny, it wouldn't be 100% effective but it would stop some of the toxidity.
Hicertman2 Dancan
@GhosttheNote: no need to reply a lot. Just make your comment simplified XD
GhosttheNote
@Hicertman2 Dancan: :(
I get new ideas as I write and sometimes they become unrelated to the person or topic I was originally writing to/about (ie the last 2 replies were originally one) or I see something new and I reply to that instead (ie 2nd and 3rd reply). Also I can reply as much as i want >:(((((((((((((
GhosttheNote
@Hicertman2 Dancan: nerd >:)
Hicertman2 Dancan
@GhosttheNote: I get your reply but i would recommend that you should simplify your reply. I agree with your opinion (Except from the separating locomotion users) but people won’t get your reply properly due to long reply which will make your other reply pointless and have a chance of ignorance.
GhosttheNote
@Hicertman2 Dancan: oh gotcha, less words instead of less replies. Understood, will try and implement that in the future when I pick fights I shouldn’t. Thank you sir.
Liam Gd & other
This is now out. Try vote kicking someone for teleporting
Partydonut214 <PSVR>
@Liam Gd & other: kk I will get one of my teleporting friends and try to teleport kick him. With their permission anyway.
bigjesus
@Liam Gd & other: that isnt actually what i asked for. Also, people can just kick them for another reason
@Zayboi2345

Minor complaint about teleporters (I call them magicians). Paintball, quarry, capture the flag: a teleporter with a flag can travel on the side moving from one obstacle to another without ever being exposed where as a walker would. I have a few more but I'll keep it to myself. I dont mind playing with magicians but in League I just want to play with other walkers.
Liam Gd & other
@Will J: then make a canny for paintball only for walkers
LeonTo Gamer
@Liam Gd & other: That wouldn't be a good idea... People want to enjoy paintball without getting motion sick. Just straight up banning teleporters from playing Paintball wouldn't be nice.
Celintro
@LeonTo Gamer: They could maybe make separate lobbies for walkers and teleporters, because if most walkers hate teleporters, and most teleports hate the complaints, then it would be better for everyone. Another thing is, in the nicest way possible, just overcome the motion sickness. I originally played with teleport for my first week because walking made my head and stomach hurt a lot. I wasn't used to it. I broke myself in by playing with walk mode for a few minutes a day, until the motion sickness just went away one day. I haven't ever felt sick from walk mode since then, because I'm so used to it. I feel like most people should step out of their comfort zone, and just try to overcome it.
Hicertman2 Dancan
@LeonTo Gamer: True, and also why would a developer remove the teleporter or limit some games for walkers only. This would make a posibilities to reduce the amount of popularity of rec room only due to the motion sickness posibility.
LeonTo Gamer
@Celintro: That is a good idea, though I feel like some teleporters feel discouraged overcoming their motion sickness... I wouldn't know how motion sickness feels, as I never had any. I mostly play on smooth locomotion, and encourage some teleporters to overcome their motion sickness. I hate it when somebody tries to get someone banned for teleporting. I feel like a simple way to fix the "TeLEpOrtIng iS hAcKinG" situation with screen players, is to tell them that VR Players have a special locomotion system, which is teleporting, and that players use it to overcome their motion sickness.
bigjesus
people dont just play on teleport because they are motion sick, a lot of people just find it fun
Firestorm185
I agree, there's nothing wrong with using it "if you have to" because of motion sickness. However it's current implementations does have balance issues in a lot of PVP maps. Not to say it's unplayable just unbalanced.
bigjesus
yeah teleport is pretty unbalanced, walkers have many more strengths than teleporters
Avery Villanueva
@bigjesus: Kinda agreed but I more agree with Will J. I do use teleport and I see how teleporters have kiinda a unfair advantage.
bigjesus
they have some advantages, but walkers have more in my opinion
Firestorm185
@bigjesus: Only if the teleporters aren't skilled teleporters and the walkers are. Skilled teleporters are insanely good at using their feature set to their advantage.
bigjesus
@Firestorm185: I mean, walkers are also insanely good at using their locomotion mode to their advantage
Firestorm185
@bigjesus: So we agree that skilled players can pwn noobs no matter what locomotion setting. nice. XD
C Chill
@Firestorm185: Walkers can jump, change directions in midair and run between the bullets. If anything walking should be nerfed.
Firestorm185
@C Chill: i think more than anything this thread shows how little both sides know or care about the other. Rec Room needs a locomotion intervention.
C Chill
@Firestorm185: agreed.
bigjesus
I play both locomotions pretty much equally and i found this: teleport is stronger against new players, especially if you duck and dodge and stuff. But against pretty much anyone above level 30 walk is much better. This is because when you are new to vr you dont aim your shots properly, you just shoot in the rough direction of the opponent. Since teleporters stand still, they can just drop low and not get hit, but walkers have a higher chance of jumping into the shots.

I love how it says "planned"

make teleporting cool.
make teleporting a feature for VR players instead of a bug for screeners
Partydonut214 <PSVR>
@Matthew Hope: ?
Matthew Hope
@Partydonut214 <PSVR>: as i experience teleporting now, it's unfortunate that people treat teleporters as 2nd class. It'd be cool if people wanted teleporters on their team, or aspired to teleport themselves. in PvP, each locomotion has it's strengths and challenges. Why not embrace locomotion diversity?
Partydonut214 <PSVR>
@Matthew Hope: No, i was confused in the context, I thought you were saying Teleporting is a bug for screen players and non-existent for Vr Players,
Telly Kojak
@Matthew Hope: dido
Firestorm185
@Matthew Hope: If Teleporting didn't completely break how a smooth loco player plays then I'd agree with you, but especially in Royale the speed teleplayers can teleport makes them extremely difficult to fight under most circumstances. There's just very few downsides for teleplayers:
- They can travel great distances at much greater speed than smooth loco players
- They can teleport through all windows even though smooth loco players cannot follow them
- Smooth loco players are used to fighting smooth loco players and "tracking" their shots with a moving target, where the entire time, the target is able to be shot while moving. With teleplayers, their hitbox moves instantaneously, not in a smooth curve towards their next location, which means it's impossible to track.
If Rec Room was somehow able to balance these issues then I wouldn't have any problem with people who can't use smooth loco being on my team or fighting them, but as it stands currently it's too much of an advantage in a fight.
the biggest of those issues is the hitbox issue. Teleporters moving instantaneously, rather than smoothly, means you can't track a shot once they "disappear" and have to A) Refind your target, and B) recenter your aim, rather than just track it. Often this can lead to smooth loco players running out of ammunition faster because the disconnect when someone teleports is so long you'll keep shooting for an extended period of time after the target teleports away, and if you run out of ammo then teleporters can just pick you off in most instances.
And yes, in most rooms (especially custom ones) teleport players do have a substantial delay between teleports, but human brains aren't built to track a target that moves instantaneously, so even with that delay by the time most smooth players have gotten back on target, the target is able to move again, and is usually spamming the teleport button to move as fast as possible (unless the delay is majorly bumped up).
In custom hang out rooms or co-op situations I have no issues with teleplayers, I was one myself before smooth came out, but smooth loco players and teleplayers never try to compare their cons and pros to see if they're balanced, they just make fun of the other side and try to make the other's points invalid.
Matthew Hope
@Firestorm185: then teleport and reap rewards. I think you'll find it challenging in more places than not.
Firestorm185
@Matthew Hope: It makes me nauseous, I actually find it more uncomfortable to use than smooth locomotion, strangely enough. Also if it's challenging that's good, not bad, as long as it's playable. Again, none of those points I made above are making fun of teleporters or trying to shame them, there's nothing wrong with using either locomotion system, the issue is the way the hitboxes are implemented and the locomotion features are not on the same level. It's a dev issue, not a player issue.
bigjesus
so basically your argument is that you're used to tracking shots right? well, how do you think teleporters felt when walk was released? Also, its your own fault for not being able to hit a stationary target, not teleporters. In addition, you said that the human brain isnt wired to be able switch aiming like that, well i hate to break it to you, but teleports also have to adjust their aim while moving.
Firestorm185
@bigjesus: Exactly, that's why it's so weird that there's no in-between shift teleport option that does both, it's either one way or the other. Also jesus, I was a teleporter too before walking came out, so I'm in the same boat.
C Chill
@Matthew Hope: I've never heard it put that way. That's a great point.
C Chill
@bigjesus: this
Telly Kojak
@Matthew Hope: absolutely hence why we say learn to teleport...never say that for walking
