The Slowdown Bug
complete
Joker
This issue affects sprinting and teleport delay, and causes players to slow down noticeably for periods of time.
It was first reported by our Stuntrunner community, but it affects all activities.
We've seen strong and repeated evidence of this issue, but it remains very hard to reproduce reliably, and therefore very difficult to fix.
Any information players can provide about how to reproduce the issue reliably would be super helpful, and we'd really love to get this one fixed as soon as we can.

Jay: was the glitch fixed with the new physics update?
Jay
BlueAnt: Yep! It was in the patch notes as well

Is it just me or am I the only one in Rec Room that literally has never had this bug? I play on Quest 2 with and without the link cable and I have never noticed any slowness and from what it sounds like the bug is pretty noticeable. Even my WiFi isn't the greatest I can't join rooms sometimes due to poor connection but it happens very rarely. Then again maybe the world is crazy and I am the only sane person left🤔

GreatPotato: it doesn’t happen to quest 2 players, pretty much only PC players (if not entirely iirc). Fixed anyways so doesn’t rly matter

Okay, I hope you're aware that the last update made this bug even worse. Next to slowing down while running forward there's also some kind of wiggling happening. It's like the path is deviating to left and right while being squeezed.
This makes me wonder if you even have figured out what this bug is.
This started 1,5 years ago, was this the period PS4 users were added to RecRoom? Could it be that PS4 users (or maybe VR players) are causing this to the other VR players. I'm not sure (too hard to verify in RR) but the amount of users in the game certainly has an impact. Some specific players DO cause lagging when I'm closing in on them.
Don't put your head in the sand and do some tests by combining users of different platforms.

nice. its not just my controller drift. So if i get new controllers i still have the problem. yay.
Jay
Take note that "teleport delay" is caused by a whole other thing and is not being worked on right now. We're fixing the walk slowdown because we're currently redoing the way physics work in Rec Room.
Jay
Update: The team is starting to look into the "teleport delay" bug as well!

Jay: finally thank you so much

Jay: Can we have an update on this?
I've got the impression that something has changed. The slowness is gone now, but has been replaced by a desync delay of 1-2 seconds.
This makes the game unplayable. I'm killed before I'm even hit. I'm out before the grenade explodes. When I shoot someone in the back, this player is still able to turn around and shoot back at me.
Thanks for the efforts, but so far you've made it worse...
Jay
EvilPimp: Slowdown has not been fixed yet, what you are describing is ping latency.
EvilPimp
Jay: Wrong, you couldn't be more wrong.
So I suffer constantly ping latency on a gigabit connection in the center of Europe? And ping latency increases in time when playing? And that latency occurs on other internet connections too? I don't think so...
I am able to play 1 or 2 games somehow normally, after a cold reboot of my quest 2. After a couple of games I am hardly able to move. I am shot before even seeing my opponent!
My guess: This is caused by a (graphical) CPU that is overcharged or even overheated. And the impact is incremental. This bug was introduced in Q2 2020, so start looking what changes were implemented in that period.
I switched from a quest 1 to a quest 2, renewed and upgraded my internet connection. Installed a POE near my gaming area, did tests on other locations, switched profiles, uninstalled/reinstalled and wiped my device. And the bug came back every single time...

EvilPimp: I believe Jay is the expert here and not you
UnityTrap
I believe this is caused by memory leaks, on WMR I got slowness bug in every lobby, on Quest 2 Native and with Link I rarely ever get it, WMR performance degrades by 70% overtime.
Heckin cool bug
This "Slowdown" bug has also sprouted other problems too, such as immortality in rec royale. It makes it so that the person can still shoot people but the original person cannot die/be eliminated.

How to replicate:
- Go to golden trophy
- teleport
- notice that the delay is twice as what it should be
Seriously how is this not fixed
